Once, Narada Muni's wish is that he wants to receive the blessings of Lord Narayan. But that was impossible, because Narayan's Prasad could not be obtained by anyone other than Mahalakshmi. In this crisis, Narada started a penance to appease Maa Lakshmi Devi. Then, after 12 years of penance, Devi Lakshmi was pleased and said to Narada Muni, "I am satisfied with your penance. Tell me what do you want?" In his reply Muni expresses his desire to receive Narayan's Prasad! Lakshmi Devi said, 'Well, wait here; after Narayan's meal you will find his remains.

Finally, when Narad Muni received the Prasad, he served it with joy. Shiva then asked Narad Muni for his happiness. Narad Muni then explained in detail. On hearing this, Shiva also wishes that he too would like to receive Narayan Prasad. Narad Muni says that he has eaten everything. But what will be the way now? Narada Muni looked at his hand and saw that there was a point of Prasad on one side of his hand. Shiva washed it with water and served it. It was such a taste of ‘Chinmaya Prasad ‘that Shiva started dancing with joy when he ate the particle of Prasad. Meanwhile, Mother Parvati heard the sound of the ‘Tandava ‘dance. And she thought that the time of earth's destruction had not yet come, but why did her husband start dancing! He approached Lord Shiva and heard the details of the incident. Then Mother Parvati said that she too wanted to receive Narayan Prasad.  But now it is not possible. Parvati Devi admits that even though she is a wife, her husband Narayan Prasad served alone!

Mother Parvati began meditating on Narayan. Narayan, who was pleased with the penance of the goddess Parvati, visited him and said, "Tell me, Parvati do you want a blessing?" Then Mother Parvati said, O Narayan! You all know that, but I have more prayers. All the children of this world are my children and only I   cannot receive your blessings.  This is my prayer that everyone in the world should get your blessings by receiving your Prasad. God expressed his desire to   distribute of ‘Mahaprasad’ to all but that should be offered in ‘Kali Kal’ when he will be worshiped as Lord Jagannatha. The gift will be given to you first, and then it will be given to everyone in the world. If any of you have gone to Puri in Orissa State of India, you will find that there is a temple of Bimaladevi (Parvati Devi) next to the temple of Jagannath Dev. There, Jagannath’s prasad was first offered to Goddess Parvati. Later the ‘Mahaprasad’ was distributed to all.
